After much activity I do, now I come back to amuse you again with my best postingan. Before we continue the topic, I have wrote about Jakarta History from past (When Jakarta takeover by Netherlands, Portugese, and Japan) until Jakarta be Capital City of Indonesia. But, did you know? Talking about this city, It mean we talking also about Jakarta Figure or I can call it BETAWI LEGENDS. Why I said that? Because the majority of Jakarta people from Betawi ethnics. Although Java ethnics dominate Jakarta City, but Betawi culture develop in Jakarta from era to era.
BTT (Back To the Topic), now I will tell you about the Legends from Betawi Land. Do you want to know who is Betawi Legends from Betawi Land? Do you want to know who is that???

SI PITUNG
Before we continue about that name, what in your mind when you hear about Pitung??? Maybe, some of you ever heard about Pitung, but never know about his characteristic. Hehehe😊😊😊
All of Indonesia people, specially from Betawi ethnics know Pitung is a legend figure in Betawi Land, specially in martial arts like Silat Betawi. Pitung ( Pitoeng in old version ) or real name is Salihun was born in Pengumben. He is a legend martial art from Rawa Belong that He was greatly admired by the whole community, especially the Betawi people. Talking about history of Pitung, maybe so much history about him in many version. But, we discuss it a little bit.
Pitung is the son of his father named Bang Piung and his mother named Mpok Pinah. Since childhood, Pitung taught religion by his parents to be a child who is pious. Pitung deepen his religious knowledge with his teacher named Haji Naipin. It is said that the story, this teacher has a martial arts that rely on deep power, and the combination of hand and foot movements that people know until now is Pencak Silat. In his religious college, Pitung also learns martial arts belonging to Haji Naipin.
The Pitung adventure begins when Pitung sells goats to Tanah Abang. While on the way Home, Pitung was intercepted by a herd of robbers. From various stories, some say Pitung was offered a leader of robbers, but he refused and eventually got into a fight and won. However, other versions say that when he wants solat, clothes put somewhere and the money is taken so he confused his money is not there. When he got home, his father was angry and asked Si Pitung to find the money he sold. When met the same pickpocket who took his money, he was offered a leader of their robber group, but was rejected so involved in a fight and finally Pitung win. However, there is a version that says he was lulled by a herd of robbers and did not dare to go home. Then he studied the outbreak of martial arts namely Rawa Kontek that can make who people use this, can disappeared when competing. But, the something prohibited from this martial arts that this person should not marry because it will lose knowledge. That is why Pitung told to die with unmarried condition. Until many versions they try to explain about the success of Pitung win against the robber.
Back to the theme, after Pitung win against the robbers, Pitung feel in this Betawi area a lot of poor people who trouble. In
short version, some say Pitung joined the herd of the Muggers then disguised as
a Dutch government employee then and made a fake letter to H.Saipudin
not to save money in Demang Master Cornelis, so his money was handed
over to Pitung cs and taken away to be shared for by the poor requiring. There
is also a saying, Pitung invite friends and college brother Rais and
Ji'ih to rob the house of the rich and landlords, then share the results
to the poor. And various kinds of versions they tell a lot. Because
of this action, Pitung targeted by the Dutch Police to be arrested
because it is very troubling especially for the rich and landlords.
Van Hinne or Scout Van Hinne made plans to capture Pitung. Apparently, their strategy works. Pitung was caught with his friends and went to jail. However, Pitung and others managed to escape from prison using magic (in Indonesia, called ajian), or inner power science, etc. Dutch officer try to find a way to get the Pitung caught. Some say at that time the Dutch held a contest, there they again arrested the teacher and his parents and his friends, some of them arrested his teacher and asked his teacher to tell the weakness of Pitung is located where. At the last, Pitung finally appeared and was shot dead due to weakness. Some say the weakness lies in being greeted, shot with golden bullets, hit by eggs and others.
Pitung's own body/ Pitung's funeral is reportedly buried in different places namely Pejagalan, Kebon Jeruk, Tapos and some areas of Depok and his funeral in guard by the Dutch soldiers for fear of harmful things.
BENYAMIN SUEB
What do you think when you hear "BENYAMIN SUEB"???
When I was child, I always hear some unique word's like "Muke Lu Jauh" or "Kingkong Lu Lawan". Not only that, when he was acts in television, he always use some Betawi accent in his dialog and Betawi style in his film. He also contribute to introduced Betawi culture in Indonesia.
Benyamin Sueb or some of people call him Bang Ben was born in Kemayoran, March 5, 1939. He comes from a family of economically incapable. Having a father named Suaeb and his mother named Aishah, Little Benyamin was lived with the underprivileged conditions . In fact, he had abandoned his father since the age of 2 years. So, at the age of 3 years, little Benyamin try to help his family with his voice like sing a song. Benyamin's own talent has actually existed since childhood. Moreover, in his life, Bang Ben is known as a humorous figure from all directions both his song and his behavior. No doubt, when elementary school, he was often offered a meal from his friend because his behavior is funny, cheerful, courageous, smart and always amuse his friend with his jokes. Bang Ben's talent not only entertain some people. The youngest brothers had once made a band called Orkes Kaleng with his brother's brother and made his musical instruments from secondhand goods. And, Bang Ben is one of the most recognizable personnel of his older brother.
Before becoming famous, Benyamin Sueb had tried to become a Pilot. But the mother forbid him. Finally, Benyamin became a bread seller and also once a driver in one of the public transport. But decided to stop from his job because he was once forced to corrupt but he refused. Finally, Bang Ben decided to try the course and work in several institutions such as Lembaga Pembinaan Perusahaan & Ketatalaksanaan ( 1960 ), Administrasi Negara ( 1964 ), Latihan Dasar Kemiliteran Kodam V Jaya ( 1960 ), Angkatan Darat Bagian Amunisi ( 1959 – 1960 ), Kodim V Jaya bagian musik ( 1957 – 1969 ) and Kepala Bagian Perusahaan Daerah Kriya Jaya ( 1960 – 1969 ).
However, once again. Bang Ben's talent seemed destined to become a famous musician. Success with Naga Mustika musical group, making the name of Benyamin Sueb is increasingly known to be a society. Not only that. Bang Ben himself also brings Gambang Kromong influence into the element of his song song. So it is not impossible if Gambang Kromong is already known in the international. Successful musical even more soar where Bang Ben collaborate with Ida Royani which produces the song is "Hujan Gerimis" and with Inneke Koesoemawati with the song of them is "Djanda Kembang".
Success in the world of music was penetrated into the world of acting. Benyamin Sueb himself had played in Si Doel Anak Betawi's films in 1976 where the film finally went on to become Si Doel Anak Sekolahan produced by Karnos Film, and starring by Rano Karno, Mandra, Basuki, and many more. And, this film is said to be very legendary because the story is simple but educational.
Bang Ben has passed away on September 5, 1995 where before it, Bang Ben is still producing the film and releasing the album. Bang Ben was buried in TPU Karet Bivak, West Jakarta and during his lifetime, the deceased alone managed to work on 75 albums & 53 films that the late starring himself.
MPOK NORI
Nuri Sanuri or every people call her is Mpok Nori was born in Batavia, August 10, 1930. In Indonesia, she has a twin that is often spelled like Luna Maya. Mpok Nori started his career as a Betawi artist from playing Lenong in one of the areas in Betawi land with his friend Haji Muhammad Bukir.
Mpok Nori became known by the public while playing in the comedy series "Pepesan Kosong" made in 1993 with Malih and Bolot. In addition, because the style is straightforward and sometimes always pinned jokes by using Betawi accent, Mpok Nori increasingly known by all circles of any community. Just look at some of the movies he has starred from Hantu Biang Kerok & Get Married 2 ( 2009 ), Get Married 3 ( 2011 ), Pocong Mandi Goyang Pinggul ( 2011 ), Penganten Pocong ( 2012 ), Jeritan Danau Terlarang & Sule Detektif Tokek ( 2013 ), And last film is Malam Suro di Rumah Darmo ( 2014 ). And not only that, jokes style Mpok Nori itself is arguably the only one with a distinctive voice like "cempreng" and she always said that Mpok Nori itself is similar to Luna Maya or beautifull artist of Indonesia. Mpok Nori herself also once filled a comedian television program called Opera Van Java and Sahurnya OVJ.
Dedication to Betawi arts also make Mpok Nori own build an art studio to find some of people who have a talent in Betawi Land. Mpok Nori passed away on April 3, 2015 due to asthma.
